What
is the GED?
GED
stands for General Educational Development. It is for
people
who do not have a high school diploma. When you pass the
GED
tests, you receive a high school diploma from the Kansas
Board of Regents. Preparation is important. The required,
official GED practice tests are available at the Adult
Education Center.
Who
can take the GED?
You
must:
- be
a Kansas resident
- not
be a high school or GED graduate
- not
be currently enrolled in high school
- be
16 or older (students 16 and 17 years of age must
have a signed release from high school)

What is on the GED?
The
GED exam has five parts:

writing skills
- social
studies
- science
- interpreting
literature and the arts
- mathematics

What
do I need to take the GED exam?

Resident
- Kansas
Photo ID and one other form of ID (Bill with
your name and address, social security card,
etc.)
- Official
Practice Test record
- if
16 or 17 years of age, permission to withdraw
from high school or a court order.
