It’s good to be in Pittsburg!  I am excited to be here in the community serving as your Superintendent of Schools.  Since March, when I first accepted the position, I have been working to make a smooth transition.  With the help of great central office staff and district administrators, it has been. Any time you start a new job, there is a lot to learn. School districts are very large organizations with many moving parts, programs, procedures, protocols, and people.  In time, I will feel more comfortable with all the things that we do in USD 250.  Until then, I will continue to learn as much as I can.

Two questions people naturally ask when new leadership steps in are, “what changes will they make,” and “how will this affect me.”  Rest assured, I am not coming into the District with any preconceived ideas or plans. I want to spend time getting to know the District and understand what it is that we do. It is important to me that I study the culture and absorb as much information as I possible. I want to get to know what it is that makes the schools and community function the way they do.  We cannot make decisions to advance the District forward until we understand where we are and where we have been. Any changes made in the future will be based on what is best for the students and developed by involving as many stakeholders as possible in the decision-making process.  When we move, we will move together.

As the school year begins, I look forward to meeting as many people as possible. In my short time here, my family and I have met a lot of wonderful people who make us feel very welcome.

It is important we build upon the strong partnerships, which already exist. I will work to enhance the relationships that make Pittsburg Community Schools a strong organization. Together, we will continue to build on the successes the District has seen and bolster the positive things that will make us even better.  It is good to be in Pittsburg!
