PHS HOSA Advisor Earns State Award

Mrs. Toni Gould, Pittsburg High School HOSA advisor, was recently selected as the Outstanding Kansas State HOSA Advisor of the Year.

She was honored at the National Leadership Conference of the Health Occupations Students of America, held in Anaheim, Calif.

Eric Myers, national HOSA officer, presented the award to Mrs. Gould during the Advisor Tribute and Recognition Session.

Since becoming PHS HOSA advisor and health science instructor in 2004, Mrs. Gould has been advisor to two Kansas state HOSA officers. She serves on the Kansas State HOSA Executive Council and the Kansas HOSA Scholarship Committee.

Mrs. Gould served as Courtesy Corps coordinator to facilitate the 2006 Kansas State HOSA Spring Leadership Conference.

She also managed several competitive events at the 2006 state leadership conference, including those in Medical Terminology, Medical Math, Extemporaneous Writing, Bio-Medical Debate and all categories of Knowledge Tests.

She holds memberships in several professional organizations, including adult affiliation in National Health Occupations Students of America, Kansas Health Occupations Students of America, Association for Career and Technical Education, Kansas Association for Career and Technical Education, and the Kansas Health Science Education Association.
