Standard 1

Understanding and applying media, techniques, and processes.

Benchmark 1

The students will apply media, techniques, and processes with sufficient skill, confidence, and sensitivity that their intentions are carried out in their artworks.

Indicator 1

The students will produce a pinch pot.

Indicator 2

The students will produce a slab pot containing surface design and texture.

Indicator 3

The students will create a coil pot unique in design and form.

Indicator 4

The students will create a ceramic sculpture of a mad made object not normally seen made out of clay (example: leather pouch, toaster, food, refrigerator, etc.)

Using knowledge of structures and functions.

Benchmark 1

The students will demonstrate the ability to form and defend judgments about the characteristics and structures to accomplish commercial, personal, communal, or other purposes of art.

Indicator 1

The students will know and use the vocabulary of ceramics.

The students will critique their own and their peer's artwork.

The students will describe the origins of specific images and ideas and explain why they are of value in their artwork and in the work of others.
