1 Movement Forms:
A physically educated student demonstrates
competency
in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms.
Benchmark 1
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to place
the ball away from an opponent in a racket sport activity.
Benchmark 2
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to design
and perform gymnastics and dance sequences that combine traveling, rolling,
balancing, and weight transfer into smooth, flowing sequences with intentional
changes in direction, speed and flow.
Benchmark 3
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to consistently
strike a ball, so that it travels in an intended direction and height,
using various apparatus (e.g., golf club, racket, bat, hockey stick).
Benchmark 4
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to consistently
throw and catch a ball while guarded by an opponent.
Benchmark 5
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to in a
small groups, keep an object continuously in the air without catching
it (e.g., ball, foot bag, etc.).
Benchmark 6
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to hand
dribble or foot dribble and prevent an opponent from stealing the ball.

Standard 2 Movement
Concepts:
A physically educated student applies
movement concepts and principles to the learning and development of motor
skills.
Benchmark 1
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to identify
basic practice and conditioning principles that enhance performance.
Benchmark 2
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to identify
proper conditioning techniques and the reasons for using them.
Benchmark 3
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to recognize
and apply the health related fitness components.

Standard 3 Physical
Activity:
A physically educated student exhibits
a physically active lifestyle.
Benchmark 1
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to identify
school/community opportunities for participation in physical activity.
Benchmark 2
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to recover
from vigorous physical activity in an appropriate amount of time.
Benchmark 3
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to participate
daily in some form of health-enhancing physical activity.
Benchmark 4
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to analyze
personal interests in regard to one's exercise behavior.
Benchmark 5
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to identify
critical aspects of a healthy lifestyle.

Standard 4 Physical
Fitness:
A physically educated student achieves
and maintains a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
Benchmark 1
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to participate
in moderate to vigorous physical activity in a variety of settings.
Benchmark 2
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to begin
to develop a strategy for the improvement of selected fitness components.
Benchmark 3
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to work
with minimal supervision in pursuit of personal fitness goals.
Benchmark 4
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to monitor
the intensity of exercise.

5 Responsible Behavior:
A physically educated student demonstrates
responsible personal and social behavior in physical activity settings.
Benchmark 1
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to accept
and respect the decision made by game officials, whether they are fellow
students, teachers or officials outside of school.
Benchmark 2
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to make
responsible decisions about using time, applying rules and following
through with decisions made.

6 Respect For Others:
A physically educated student demonstrates
understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity
settings.
Benchmark 1
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to through
verbal and nonverbal behavior, demonstrate cooperation with peers of
different gender, race, ethnicity in physical activity settings.

7 Understanding Challenge:
A physically educated student understands
that physical activity provides opportunities for enjoyment, challenge,
self-expression, and social interaction.
Benchmark 1
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to recognize
physical activity as a positive opportunity for social and group interaction.
Benchmark 2
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to demonstrate
enjoyment from participating with physical activity.
Benchmark 3
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to recognize
that success in physical activities leads to recognition from peers.
Benchmark 4
As a result of participating in a quality physical education
program, it is reasonable to expect the student will be able to seek
personally challenging experiences in physical activity.
