The Pittsburg USD 250 Foundation was founded in 2000 by the USD 250 Board of Education.

Tomorrow's future depends on what the children of today learn. Education in our society is provided to prepare our children for tomorrow. In order to prepare for a different future, our children need more than just the basics of a quality education. Access to excellence cannot be achieved through public funding alone. When public and private funding join together it is evident that greater things will happen.

The purpose of the Pittsburg USD 250 Foundation is to promote partnerships between the schools and community, and therefore link public and private funds. The foundation also helps to develop secure resources that are not available through the support of the revenues. Through the support of the foundation, donors enhance and maintain programs and services that significantly improve the quality of teaching and learning.

Donors to the foundation have the satisfaction of knowing that their gifts join other donations with the combined benefit going to our children. The foundation is a partnership between the Pittsburg Community Schools and the community. As a subfund of the Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas, gifts to the Pittsburg USD 250 Foundation provide benefits to the youth of Pittsburg and provide benefits to the donor as well.

Gifts to the foundation may be given in various forms of cash, properties, securities, or other tangible items. Proceeds from life insurance policies may also be directed toward the fund. Contributions are tax-deductible as a 501 (c)(3) gift. Gifts are normally undesignated or the donor may specify the projects or use for which the gift is intended. Gifts may be designated for use of the principal or in the case of an endowment, limited to the use of earnings only.
