Eighth Grade Science 2008-09 Classroom policies and guidelines.


You should bring the following things with you every day: a pen or pencil and a spiral notebook for this class.

The equipment we use in lab is expensive and we are lucky to have it. Therefore it is a privilege to use this equipment in lab class

Computer Guidelines;
1. Treat the equipment with care.
2. You may not change any settings on the computer.
3. You may not access Internet messenger or personal e-mail.
4. Only visit web sites that are approved by the teacher, if unsure ask.
5. If an inappropriate web site pops up shut the monitor off and alert the teacher.
6. You may not open other students, or teachers files on the computer, if unsure ask the teacher.
7. You may only access and play approved reward games after finishing all due work with Mr. D’s permission

Violation of these guidelines will result in;
1st time a warning and loss of computer privileges for the week.
2nd time loss of privileges for the semester.

Lab Guidelines
1. Enter quietly and find your work area,
2. Read the white board for the daily agenda as soon as your arrive.
3. Record your attendance.
4. Begin the daily warm-up. Use low voices.
5. Ask permission to leave your work area. Use your call light.
6. Always follow safety rules. These are posted near the attendance center.
7. At the end of the hour clean up your work area and assign your daily points.
8. Stay in your seat until dismissed at the bell. Push your chairs in for the next hour.

Violation of these guidelines

First Time; Student and Teacher will discuss situation, possible removal from the lab for the day. Student will need to make up work after school.

Second Time; Removal from lab and an alternative assignemt will be given for the all labs during this unit. Referral to office.

Third Time; Removal from lab for the remaider of the nine weeks, alternative assignments for labs. Office refferal

Tardiness

Please be in your seat in the classroom or lab by the second bell to not be counted tardy.

1st time; conference with teacher, recorded in your personal records. reported to office.
2nd time conference with teacher, recorded in your personal records, reported to office.
3rd time detention after school in ISS room.

Absent Make-up work
When you are absent your folder will be in the attendance center near the laser printer, report there as soon as you enter the lab.
1. Find your folder, on the computer enter the 8th grade Science web page.
2. Scroll down and select Mr. D’s home work page
3. Write the makeup work found in the day(s) you missed in your planner.
4. Initial the attendance list by your name
5. Find your work area.
