Commerce Bank - Pittsburg --- Due April 27, 2012
Seniors: The Commerce Bank-Pittsburg Scholarship is awarded to one graduating senior of both St. Mary's Colgan and Pittsburg High School. The student must enroll in a 4-year college or university. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and ACT 23 or higher. Applications are available online and in the PHS counseling office. Pittsburg Noon Kiwanis Club Scholarship due April 13, 2012
The Pittsburg Noon Kiwanis club recognizes outstanding students each year through their $500 scholarship awards given to a deserving graduate who will attend Pittsburg State University. Applications are available online at www.usd250.org and must be returned to Tim Flood, 6664 NE Liberty Rd., Weir, KS, 66781 with a postmark date of April 13, 2012.
Pittsburg Education Association (PEA) Scholarship due April 13, 2012
The Pittsburg Education Association which represents the USD 250 teachers is proud to offer its scholarship to a qualified Pittsburg High School graduate. Qualifications require a 3.0+ GPA and plan to pursue degree in education. Applications are available online at www.usd250.org and must be returned to the counseling office by April 13, 2012.
USD 250 Foundation Scholarship
The Pittsburg USD 250 Foundation has announced its 2012 scholarship program that will be given to qualified seniors. The Foundation is proud to offer the following scholarship awards: (1) USD 250 Foundation Scholarship, (2) Kenny Boone Memorial Scholarship, (3) Dick Webb Memorial YouthFriends Corps Scholarship, (4) Hight-Jackson Scholarship, (5) Megan Mallatt Leadership Award, (6) Seth Roberts Memorial Scholarship, (7) Wayne B. Yarcho Memorial Scholarship, (8) Roy Davis Scholarship, and the (9) Timmons Scholarship. There is one application form, however, there may be additional items (i.e. essay questions, additional letters of recommendation) that are required for the different scholarship awards. Completed applications and all supporting documents are to be returned to the Rhonda White in the counseling office by 5 p.m., Monday, April 2, 2012. The application is available in the counseling office and online at www.usd250.org.
PSU Elaine Bryant Memorial Scholarship
There are two scholarships, in the amount of $350, for two deserving high school students. Applicants must plan to attend PSU; grades, leadership and activities are considered. Applications are available in the counseling office and online at www.usd250.org and are due to the counseling office by this Friday, March 15.
Sunflower Kiwanis of Pittsburg PSU Scholarship due April 9, 2012
$500 scholarship to deserving senior of PHS or Colgan
1. Must be in good standing with school and community.
2. Average or above GPA. Student involvement must be demonstrated through involvement in extracurriccular activities and/or community activities. Employment will also be considered.
3. Must attend PSU w/ 12 hours per semester.
4. Scholarship is renewable for total of 4 years provided student maintains GPA and full time status.
5. Check will be sent to financial aid office at PSU for deposit in student's account.
6. Must attend a Kiwanis meeting to be introduced to the club members; meetings are on Tuesday mornings at 6:45 am in DePaul Hall in Via Christi hospital.
Pittsburg Rotary Scholarship due March 23, 2012
1. Must attend PSU.
2. Must be graduate of PHS or Colgan.
3. Must have 3.0 or higher GPA.
4. Must NOT have received a PSU Presidential or University Honors College Scholarship
5. One time award, freshman year only
Kansas Society of CPAs Scholarship - test scores due March 7th
The Kansas Society of CPAs is offering 20 scholarships ranging in value from $500-$1,300 to qualified students. Considerations include ACT, plan to major in accounting, demonstrate leadership through involvement in extra-curricular activities, and will attend a Kansas university or college. Financial need is NOT a requirement. ACT scores must be submitted by your counselor or through ACT.org by March 7th. Upon submission of ACT scores, you will receive an application which is due April 18th. More information is available online at www.kscpa.org
K-State Sigma Nu Excellence Scholarship Due March 8th
This scholarship is given to a qualified male student who exemplifies excellence in leadership, academics, and community involvement. Students are not required to become members of Sigma Nu Fraternity, nor are they required to enter into Greek Life. Applicants must be available for interviews on March 25th or April 1st. Applications are available online at www.k-state.edu/sigmanu or from your counselor and are due by March 8th.
KU Sig Ep Scholarship Due March 14th
This scholarship, called the Naismith Scholar Scholarship, will be given to a qualified male student who enrolls at KU in the fall. Criteria include leadership, activities, academics and building positive relationships with others. Applications are available in the counseling office or on the district's web page www.usd250.org. Completed applications must be postmarked by March 14th. See your counselor for more information.
Joplin Globe's NEWSPAPERS in EDUCATION Scholarship due March 16th
A $1,000 scholarship will be given to two students (one male and one female) who have worked and/or participated in community service and/or extracurricular activities. Applicants must have 3.5 or higher GPA and has participated and demonstrated proficiency in a journalism or web-related area. Applicant must demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA and providing the EFC. Westar Energy Craft Scholarships due March 17th
Westar Energy is offering two scholarships for qualified students who are pursuing a degree in Power Plant Technology or Electric Power and Distribution in Kansas. Application process includes application form, essay and personal interview. Community National Bank Scholarship

Seniors, the Community National Bank Scholarship is now available and is due by March 15. To be eligible, applicants must plan to attend Pittsburg State University. Applications are available from the Community National Bank, from the counseling office, or online at www.usd250.org.

The Pittsburg Rotary will award two $500 scholarships to two deserving students. Applicants must attend Pittsburg State University, must have 3.0 or higher GPA, and must not have received a PSU Presidential, Honors or University Scholarship. Mitchelson Foundation Scholarship - Due March 30th
The Mitchelson Foundation, Inc. has announced its annual scholarship to be granted to a qualified graduating senior from Southeast Kansas. The recipient will be chosen based on high school grades, school activities, awards and honors, community involvement, and dedication to leadership and purpose.
The recipient of the scholarship will receive $1,000 for the first semester in college/university to be credited to their individual account at the financial aid office of the college/university of his/her choosing. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to recipient each succeeding semester for a total of eight semesters, provided the recipient maintains a three point grade average (3.0 GPA) on a four point grading system (4.0 GPA), carrying a minimum of twelve (12) hours each semester.
Applications must be returned to the Pittsburg High School Counseling office by March 30, 2012. More information and application forms are available on the www.usd250.org website or from the counseling office.
Knights of Columbus Mike Burdick Scholarship due April 25th
The Knights of Columbus Mike Burdick Scholarship will award one $500 scholarship to a qualifying applicant from either Pittsburg High School or Colgan HS; student must be Catholic and attend Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, have 2.5+ gpa. Additional information and applications are available in the PHS counseling office.
