Pittsburg High School Principal Announces New Position

At the February 2025 USD 250 Board of Education meeting, Kelynn Heardt was named Gear Up Career Coordinator for grades 6-12. Heardt currently serves as the Lead Principal at Pittsburg High School, a role she has held since 2019.

The Gear Up Career Coordinator is a new position for Pittsburg Community Schools. It will serve as the lead contact for activities related to program development to enhance students’ success by exposing the various career opportunities available to USD 250 students.

As the lead principal at PHS, I have seen the need for a position dedicated to preparing students and educating families about the extensive offerings our students have in the area of career exploration,” Heardt said. “Our students need a plan in place before they graduate and many do have a plan, but the goal is that ALL students will have the ability to make informed decisions about what their next steps are after high school and that those decisions align with their interests.”

Heardt will take on her new role at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year. She is excited to continue helping the students at USD 250 with this new position.

I am so excited to work closely with our students in this capacity. I have served as an administrator at PHS for the past nine years and am so proud of the positive culture we have created,” Heardt said. “I will forever be a Dragon and this transition will allow me to continue serving the district and the community that I love.”
