Pittsburg High School Welcomes New Assistant Principal

Pittsburg Community Schools USD 250 is excited to welcome Zachary Petty as a new Assistant Principal at Pittsburg High School.

Mr. Petty is a Joplin, MO native who graduated from Joplin High School. He attended Missouri Southern State University where he received a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education and Social Sciences. Mr. Petty later obtained his Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. In 2023 he received his Educational Specialist in Superintendency from Northwest Missouri State University.

“I am extremely excited to join Pittsburg High School and the Pittsburg community,” Petty said. “Having lived in and around Joplin my entire life, I have heard nothing but great things about the Pittsburg area. I am looking forward to beginning my administrative career at PHS, and doing what I can to assist our students in achieving all varieties of great things!”

Mr. Petty comes to Pittsburg with his wife and three children from Carl Junction, MO. Mr. Petty has taught Social Studies at Carl Junction High School for the last ten years, he also brings vast coaching experiences in Softball and Baseball.

Petty has assumed his duties as of July 29.
