Dragons,

I would like to take a moment to welcome you back to the second half of the 2019-2020 school year. As we finish our first week together in 2020, I find myself reflecting on our goals for this year and our district strategic plan.

Our staff worked hard throughout last semester and will continue to work to implement new programs, processes, policies, and procedures. Our students play a significant role in contributing to our goals as a district; they bring us feedback, put in effort in the classroom, they have a willingness to learn and try something new, and daily show our staff “The Dragon Way”.

The Social-Emotional and Academic Learning initiative has been positive, and the district is continuing its effort to keep SEAL goal in focus. One of the ways we have been working towards this initiative is with a Word of the Month. The remaining words of the month are:

January:                               Integrity

Could Include:  Honesty, Trustworthiness

February:                             Acceptance

Could Include:   Equality, Tolerance, Value

March:                                  Perseverance

Could Include:  Grit, Fortitude, Courage

April:                                     Teamwork

Could Include:  Collaboration, Communication

May:                                      Citizenship

Could Include:  Service, Civic Mindedness

We are working together toward becoming the best school district in the state of Kansas. That will not happen without change, innovation, hard work, experimentation, and perseverance. Through strong partnerships, we can fully achieve the goals that we have set forth for each student and our district. It will take us all to be able to attain them, but we know that we can accomplish them together.

We look forward to being a partner with you and your student as we prepare them for their future.

Mr. Richard Proffitt
Superintendent of Schools
