PITTSBURG, KS - Pittsburg Community Schools will host the biggest Kansas Powerlifting Championships in the state by holding both the Boys and Girls 5A State this Saturday, February 29th, at 9:00am. 

The Championships will be in the newest facility at Pittsburg Community Middle School. This space was provided by the 2017 Bond and will see over 400 athletes on Saturday. Athletes will compete for an individual state title in their weight categories in bench, power clean, or squat. They will also be  competing for the title of Overall State Champion in their weight category. 

Teams competing this year are; Andover, Andover Central, Goddard, Goddard Eisenhower, Wichita NW, Maize, Maize South, Basehor, Bonner Springs, Mill Valley, Washburn Rural, Kapaun, Lansing, Leavenworth, and Pittsburg.

The Dragons will be led by 5A defending champs: Jason Campbell, Dennis Heikes, Shay Mahnken, and Ethan Weidert. Seniors Brandon Petty, Adam Lee, Brody Arck, Joseph Lee, Sam Herring, and Aaron Woods should also look to compete for the top spot in their weight category. 

Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for students.
