Today at 3:00, Governor Laura Kelly, the Commissioner of Education and the Secretary of Health (KDHE) held a joint press conference announcing the delay of the start of the school year. The first date that school may begin will be after Labor Day.
We understand this brings many questions and concerns from our community. District Leadership in partnership with the Board of Education and multiple advisory committees have been diligently working on the Return to School Plan and will continue with those efforts in coordination with the guidelines released this week by KDHE.
These decisions are being made in response to the current public health crisis. Our focus remains on preventing the spread of the coronavirus, or COVID-19. We urge our community to continue to follow guidance from CDC, KDHE, and Crawford County Health Department.
As we know more information we will communicate with our parents and community
through regular means.
