Jamie Howard has been working for Pittsburg Community Schools as a Technology Integration Specialist for six years. His attention to ensuring our students are able to adequately learn in the information age makes him one of our #DynamicDragons.

Before coming to Pittsburg Community Schools, he was a classroom teacher at a different district. He says coming to Pittsburg was a perfect match.

"[In college,] I was torn between being in technology and education. It was actually [Pittsburg State University President] Dr. Steve Scott who helped guide me into where I am today. He asked me what I was into and he helped me choose this path.”

"There is a constant change of pace, which I love. I can go from a full-on training to drilling holes in a concrete wall to writing code for a program all on the same day.”

"I run our Google Chrome program, so almost 2,000 devices a day. I coordinate all of the settings in the Chrome programming so each classroom has an individualized experience, depending on what is taught in that classroom. Also, I work heavily with the Canvas program. When I was hired, I had two goals. I wanted the District to have a unified learning management system and a unified platform for the kids.”

He says having a student in the school system has helped him with his job.

"Digital citizenship curriculum was one of those things. It was something I saw as a parent we needed to have for the District and now students are learning some of those concepts.”

"I really enjoy my job. I get to work with some of my favorite people in the world. I get to spend all day talking to staff, students, and faculty, and see how they are all using the technology."
