Live Well Crawford County and Blue Cross Blue Shield presented $20,000 in grant funding to Pittsburg Community Schools for water bottle filling stations. That money will be split between Pittsburg Community Middle School, Lakeside Elementary, and Westside Elementary.

Funding is through the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas’ Pathways to a Healthy Kansas Grant and coordinated through Live Well Crawford County.

“Hydration is an important aspect of living healthier lives,” Chris King, PCMS Assistant Principal & Activities Director, said. “We felt it was a great place to start and this grant helps us take immediate action to reach our goal of a healthier learning environment.”

With the grant, PCMS will install ten filling stations, Westside will install four, and Lakeside will install six.

"We are thankful to Live Well Crawford County and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas for funding this project and seeing that this is something that is needed," King said.
