Letter: Farewell to Pittsburg
Letter: Farewell to Pittsburg
District Communications Office
Tuesday, June 26, 2018

As I depart from Pittsburg, I want to thank the citizens of Pittsburg for allowing me to lead your community's schools over the past decade as the Superintendent of Schools. I have truly enjoyed watching your children grow into young adults and become productive citizens in our community. You should be very proud of the young adults who are graduating from Pittsburg High School ready to be successful either in college, in the workforce, or both.

I want to thank area leaders and businesses for partnering with the school districts in creating an educational hub to help us be a leading producer of skilled workers with the creation of the Southeast Kansas Career and Technical Education Center of Crawford County (C-TEC). We have seen student interest grow in trades and continue to expand the course offerings to continue to meet the needs of the labor force in our region.

The success of our students is heavily dependent on a community that supports its education system and educators -- something that is strong here in Pittsburg and Crawford County. Community support for our students was clear when voters passed a bond issue addressing the safety and educational environment needs of our facilities last spring.

I have cherished the opportunity to be a part of this community. I have met so many amazing people and developed a multitude of lasting friendships. This community has enriched my life in many ways!

My wife, Joan, and I are moving to Clinton, Missouri where I have accepted a position to serve their community as its superintendent.

Thank you for your friendship, openness to new ideas, and continued support of our students, and the district as a whole.  I have loved being your superintendent!
